Your Irish Name Is... |
We're Stacey, Hannah, Darcy and Leon and this is our story. We started home educating in Feb 2007 but due to a change in family circumstances, the kids started school in June 2010. In June 2009, Hannah was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and in March 2012 she was diagnosed with epilepsy so that makes life quite hard. Leon will be turning 5 in January and we have decided to home educate him which is really exciting.

Rotorua Home Educators Group Tuesday
Today our home educators group went to a local blueberry farm, Mamaku Blue. It's just down the road from us so it was neat for our weekly activity to be so close.
We had a tour through the orchard and the grading/packing sheds. Everyone picked some berries and then we put them through the grader shown below. After that we could eat them. YUM!

Blackberries and zucchinis.
For dinner Hannah made a beautiful Zucchini slice. It's got bacon, onion and garlic (Hannah's addition). Here's the whole recipe for anyone that's interested.
Grate 375g of unpeeled zucchini coarsely.
Finely chop one large onion
and as many cloves of garlic as you like.
Chop three rashers of bacon.
Combine with one cup of grated cheese,
one cup of self-raising flour sifted,
half a cup of oil,
five eggs lightly beaten,
salt and pepper.
Pour into well greased baking tray and bake in moderate oven (180C) for 30-40 minutes.
After dinner we went blackberrying along the old railway lines and got all these. We could have gotten more but it was getting dark. We had so much fun.
Darcy bought his bike and the kids took turns riding along the bumpy track.
Darcy's smiling like that cos he's just about to run me over!!! : )

You are a New Age Girl! |
You're bright, opinionated, and dedicated to changing the world. Even if it's one hybrid car at a time, you do you part to make things better. In fact, you may be so busy with your causes that you have little time for love. Take an extra yoga class or two, and you just might meet New Age Guy! |

OPSHOP- One Day
This is my favourite song at the moment. Kiwi music ROCKS!!!!
I can't seem to find a video of it but I will post another video of theirs cos I think the lead singer is so good-looking.
Absence make her heart grow fonder
While I'm conquering the last frontier
Lately I've found myself wonderin' out loud
Wonderin' what I was doin' here
[Chorus]
One day you'll understand how much you have me
One day you'll realise we have it easy
I can't offer you the future - I don't know it myself
All I can offer you is me
I'm all I can offer you right now
Patience make her heart grow stronger
Reassure her she's where I want to be
Never was the grass ever greener
I'm about ready as I'll ever be
And one day you'll understand how much you have me
One day you'll realise we have it easy
If an expression of love is what you need to believe
All I can offer you is me
I'm all I can offer you right now
[Music]
I'm all I am
All I am, yeah
One day you'll understand how much you have me
One day you'll realise we have it easy
I can't offer you the future - I don't know it myself
All I can offer you is me
One day you'll understand how much you have me
One day you'll realise we have it easy
If an expression of love is what you need to believe
All I can offer you is me
I'm all I can offer you right now
[Pause]
Absence make her heart grow fonder
While I'm conquering the last frontier
What we did this weekend
I had a huge tidy-up in our lounge yesterday and this is one corner that I'm really pleased with.
We have a tiny house and I'm always trying to get on top of the mess, so when I have a day like this it makes me really happy.
This morning while the boys were asleep I snuck out to take some photos of my garden - something I haven't done for ages. These daisies are so bright and cheery.
My cherished tomatoes are finally starting to ripen a bit faster than one every 3-4 days.
Tonight I actually picked 4 cherry ones to have with our salad. Yummy!!!!
The corn is starting to get ears and looks like the real deal.
Darcy helped me plant these Petunias a couple of days of days ago. They are all different colours.
These are blueberries that still need to ripen. Just have to keep the birds off them!
You can see baby beans here if you look carefully.
This is my newest garden. It's got broccoli, basil and calendula in it.
More tomatoes.

Homeschooling group
Today was our second homeschooling group day. One of the Mums invited us all to her place for a sports day. It was raining when we got there so we all trooped into her house and the Mums chatted and drunk tea while the kids had a great time playing with lego.
Eventually it stopped raining and we went for a walk down to the tennis courts.
Darcy was having a great time cos there were lots more boys than last week. They played touch rugby and mucked around on the tennis court with different bats.
Hannah made another new friend (YAY!!!!) who is also horse mad so they were both really happy.
I got to meet 5 new homeschool Mums and 1 Dad which I'm so excited about.

We had to have a Sycamore tree cut down today as it was starting to split.
I got some great photos of the progress.
